The Godfather

It's one of those movies I never get tired of either. I can just keep watching it over an over.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
used to be my favorite movie but I got tired of it and don't really want to see it again until I have a grandchild through whose eyes I can sort of experience it again for the first time.

It's impossible for me to say what my all time favorite movie is. My favorite would be the most recent movie I saw that I liked so...

Burton/hurt 1984.
That is pretty good. I must admit. It really captures the feel of the novel.
I only just got it on DVD (had it on VHS)..

The opeing scene was just awesome...

lines like:-

'It's a beautiful thing, watching the destruction of a language.'

"Did you see the hanging? Missed it myself... Bloody commitees!"

Damn, there's some mighty fine films. The majority of you have great taste!!!

Devil's Advocate can :pawiz: though. Dull, predictable and worse than the comedy version Bedazzled. :|~

edit: Can I have favourite films rather than favourite, 'cos I have more than one favourite.
Das Boot for me "War Movie"
Star Trek 2 for "Trek Movie"
Old Boy for "fight movie / strange Korean things...."
Appleseed for "Animated Heavy Violence"
Pulp Fiction for "Tarantino"

(The actual "My Favourites" List probably spans a few pages....)

I think that language has a lot to do with interfering in our relationship to direct experience. A simple thing like metaphor will allows you to go to a place and say 'this is like that'. Well, this isn't like that. This is like this.

Kill Bill (Parts 1&2).

It's a great homage to various styles of cinematography and genres of action movies. Uma Thurman is not only hot, but a force of nature and the comedy is suitably dark. Some great cameo appearances too.

See the trouble with this is, although I can pick just one right now, it will change according to my emotional state, the people around me, how long since I've seen certain films, the film I'm currently watching, where abouts in my mental landscape my inner child happens to be hiding, politics and current affairs, how horny I am, what time of day it is, and an infinite number of other variables that I wouldn't care to name.

For now though, I'm going with Ink, a 2009 independent film by Jamin Winans which, in this troubled time of digital economy bills, reminds me that free sharing of information is a very good thing for the creative industry, as torrents are where many people, including me, first heard about it. And it's refreshingly different from the films Hollywood has been churning out recently.
[Disclaimer - if this is comes across like I think I know what I'm talking about, I want to make it clear that I don't. I'm just trying to get my thoughts down]
