I actually wanted to see Antichrist primarily because it had so outraged the critics :hehe:
Which is why I mentioned The Exorcist, A Clockwork Orange etc... because these films were the exact same when they came out. Dividing critics right down the middle with one indignant side calling for it to be banned and the other more stoic side saying it was after pushing the limits of cinema.
I also learned since this came out that a lot of critics hate Von Trier anyway, probably because he takes the piss out of them all the time, so I'm sure there was an element that went in hating it from the on-set.

Both the Exorcist and A Clockwork Orange I have seen and enjoyed. Antichrist just did not appeal. But I will watch it regardless.

Back to Avatar it has currently made £1.606bn worldwide in 31 days. So it would appear Titanic will be sunk within a couple of weeks and overtaken by some way.

Avatar will be the first movie to make £2bn worldwide. JC certainly does seem to have the Midas touch and the Globe wins of course won't harm the box office.

The extra few quid a throw to rent the 3D goggles might have something to do with things. :tea:

Yes it will, of course, but not that much.. It is still selling out in IMax cinemas up to the end of its run so in the final tally the glasses prices won't matter. I think if you counted bums on seats it would still win the battle. It will pass $500 million in the domestic market tonight. The Dark Knight was $533m and Titanic $600m in their entire run.. Avatar has been out 31 days

I can't wait for 3D telly. Just imagine being able to see Ken Barlow as if he was in your own living room :o

3D television is ridiculous. How dull. The whole point of 3d is to experience something a little different, a novelty. Imagine having to don glasses every time you turned on the telly, a right bitch for those of us who already need a pair.

And imagine watching a holographic movie! You'd have to move around the damn screen in circles in case you miss something that some artsy fartsy director thinks is smart to hide behind objects from one perspective.

It would certainly allow us to see both sides of an argument. :hehe:

But you'd have to watch a movie at least twice to see everything, and not in the good way.

And then when we get holodecks you'll be able to be a character in the movie.. now that would be cool.

I've seen a few movies more than once. :coffee: If they're not worth a second look I probably shouldn't have wasted time the first run through.
