I won't bother posting my list of faves, they've mostly been covered. Instead I'll post something that most people won't have even heard of....

One show that really should be shit, but I loved watching was Mechannibals. It was on Dave or something, and like a cross between Scrapheap Challenge, Robot Wars and Cash in the Attic. The premise, two families that live nearby get given a task, they have to make a machine to perform this task using only items found in their house. They would rip apart their own washing machines, dryers, bikes, water tanks, kids' toys, etc. to make Heath Robinson contraptions. The most shocking part.... the losers get the booby prize, a toolbox to fix their destroyed house. The winners get new things to replace all the things they cannibalised.

if you ever see it on, watch it, it's funny as fuck.

The first one is the good one. The second fell apart. I'm not sure why. It went from surreal comedy to yucky love mush :ani:

I've had a quick look and there appear to be torrents available.

Most of the contestants were roboteers by the way, and the technical advisor of that show was Ian Watts that built Bigger Brother.

That's not really a surprise actually. I wish they'd make more of these shows but I think it was axed after the first series.

We don't get a lot of quality British shows broadcasted in South Africa, and our local TV stations mostly show American sitcoms.

That being said, I've got the season 1 - 3 of Cahterine Tate show... very funny

Other good ones I've seen: Absoluately Fabulous and Black Adder.

That reminds me of The Book Group .. it had a really good and promising start then went downhill into soapish suds.

Loved the first one (or two - it's been a while, so don't recall clearly) series of Teachers.
