I liked it a lot. I thought it would be some random chick flick, but the humour is pretty dark, and what would otherwise be a pointless film is regularly punctuated with really funny dialogue and incongruous events.Animavore wrote:Just watched Little Miss Sunshine. I liked it more than I thought I would. I think that tiny shard of ice to the left of centre in my thoracic cavity just thawed a little.

Just finished watching Ninja Assassin.
It wasn't great and it wasn't as bad as the critics made out (although my critic said it was fairly good). It lacked a heart and some of the action scenes weren't as exciting or intense as they should've been and in this regard it pales in comparison to it's Asian counterparts or even the recent Kick Ass. You just didn't get that ouch factor you get with the better martial arts flicks despite all the limbs flying every where (more limbs than a revered Indian child).

Watched Avatar on DVD last night. Much better the 2nd time around, without the damn 3-D glasses. I still give it 3 out of 4 stars though, since I already saw the same plot 20 yrs ago when Dances With Wolves came out.

phwoar... that looks great! I have to know what the zombies are plotting to do in their clandestine meetings which involve more intelligence than they display in their day to day jobs. You can spoiler it for me. i don't mind. I have bugger all chance of finding this film in a DVD store in Australia, I reckon.Bri wrote:Watched "They Came Back. 70 million people are reanimated and just mysteriously reappear in the streets etc. but instead of running around eating brains they just wander around causing logistical/safety/emotional problems etc.

I saw the movie "You Don't Know Jack" last night, about Jack Kevorkian. I give it a thumbs up.

I watched Downfall for the first time last night. I really liked it a lot. It was interesting, gripping and also quite funny in certain places.

Re: So.... Seen Any Good Movies Lately?
I recently watched Kick-Ass. Enjoyable. Not as funny, nor offensive (considering all the fuss), as I thought it would be, but enjoyable just the same.
Also watched Peter Pan, the (to my knowledge) latest incarnation. Surprising. Unlike most film versions, most notable the cringe-worthy Hook, this was not at all insufferably annoying. It was actually fairly well done, I thought. The actor who played Peter Pan (can't remember his name) was born to play the role, it seemed to me. The supporting characters were all well cast and provided excellent turns. One actor played the dual roles of Hook and Mr Darling, and did a fine job with each. Smee was funny. In fact there was a lot of humor in the film, but it was all taken just seriously enough to maintain a rather emotionally engaging experience. In fact I bawled like a baby at the end

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

I want to see that, it looks hilarious. Finally saw Sherlock Holmes the other night, and also Harry Brown. Both good, although Harry Brown is a bit like a Daily Mail readers revenge fantasy.
