70 million people are reanimated and just mysteriously reappear in the streets etc. but instead of running around eating brains they just wander around causing logistical/safety/emotional problems etc.

Ah. So it's about the Irish uprising?

Just finished watching Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs. Good film. Minimal in style. It wouldn't be up there with a Pixar film but it looks good rather than cheap like Hookwinked or Over The Hedge. Kids will love it.

I saw the Alice In Wonderland Movie. I liked it.

- Three to five times a week.
- No, no… I mean male or female?
- Male, female, sometimes camel.
- Holy cow!
- Yes, cow, sheep, animals in general.
- But isn’t that hostile?
- Horse style, doggy style, any style!
- Oh dear!
- No, no! Deer run too fast.

Woody Allen, Annie Hall.

I love this scene:

Finally got around to watching Sherlock Holmes. RDJ is a fucking genius! The script is stratospherically above the usual Hollywood fare for such a film. The action sequences are completely unbelievable yet manage to convey a glorious, tongue-in-cheek sense of rollicking good fun. The loose ends are neatly tied (apart from those that lead us neatly into the inevitable sequel.)

All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours of nonsense.

Except...

The desire to utilise recognisable (to an American audience) London landmarks was too much to resist (and certainly wasn't going to be sacrificed on the altar of realism!) Tower Bridge is 3 miles from the Houses of Parliament by the quickest route! There is no way that someone fleeing from the sewers beneath the Palace of Westminster would suddenly find themselves staggering across its upper walkway! :nono:

That glaring, facepalm moment aside, I loved it.

Have you ever noticed that when references are made to London Bridge either in films or videoclips or sometimes even the news you ever so often get a picture of Tower Bridge?

Which is strange 'cause London Bridge is in Arizona, they can't even get the country right.

I watched "World's Greatest Dad" last night. Although it is a dark comedy, I thought that it was very good. Robin Williams plays his role excellently.

Just watched Little Miss Sunshine. I liked it more than I thought I would. I think that tiny shard of ice to the left of centre in my thoracic cavity just thawed a little.

Just got back from watching Kick-Ass. I've gotta say that I loved it, despite it being crazy as all hell.

As a result I've also learned that my friends and I have some serious dark humor. We laughed the whole way through.

I watched Alice in Wonderland recently.... and I wasn't sure what to make of it. I think I would have preferred to have seen it in 2D, as I think the 3D experience didn't add anything to the film and actually distracted me from the dialogue (which was mostly very good, particularly Helena Bonham Carter's stuff). I was really impressed with the CGI, possibly the best I've ever seen, but it felt as if several scenes were put in simply to show off the 3D effects, which is a really bad idea. I was disappointed that Tim Burton would stoop so low as to put in such visual fluff.

Dreams With Sharp Teeth, a documentary on Harlan Ellison. Worth watching for an illustration of an ingenious, irascible man.
