PS. Looking for a blogger template: 3 columns, dark, something on the gothic vampire side, not very intricate but elegant. If anyone knows of a template like the above PM me. Thanks.

The League of Gentlemen, absolutely. Blackadder, obviously.
And I don't think anyone's mentioned the Mighty Boosh yet. So try that one.

OMG! How has no one said Only Fools and Horses! It holds the record for highest UK audience for a sitcom at 24.3 million viewers, it would be like an American sitcom getting 150 million viewers for one episode.

I thought Primeval was so-so... neither great nor terrible, and mainly aimed at the kiddies (and certainly not as dire as that godawful Torchwood series!). And Red Dwarf had its moments, but it's a very "culty" sci-fi comedy show; you'll either love it or hate it.tattuchu wrote:My co-worker was just talking about Primeval. Any good? Worth picking up on DVD? What about Red Dwarf? I've never seen that either, though I've heard of it.
Any other good shows worth getting? They don't have to be SF.
But if you want a really good BBC sci-fi yarn along the same lines as Primeval (but a bit more adult) then I highly recommend Invasion Earth. It's a 6 part miniseries and, although a bit derivative in parts, it's got a cracking storyline, great production values and a really unique ending. I sat down to watch just one episode, and ended up watching the whole thing in one go!
My 2 cents.

Absolutely! Other great British comedies I'd also recommend are One Foot in the Grave, The Brittas Empire, Yes Minister (of course!) and Absolutely Fabulous.heyjude wrote:If you haven't see Coupling.. watch it. Just crazy silly funny.
I'm also a big fan of Dad's Army, but I"m not sure it'd go down as well in the US.

Well, it was an interesting phenomenon and everyone loved it... but looking back, was it actually any good? I don't think it was really.klr wrote:Going beyond sitcoms, I have only two words: This Life

I have fond memories of some doozies... like It Ain't Half Hot Mum (which is pretty racist and I bet me and my Indian husband would cringe and laugh at it now)... but it was funny at the time. John Alderton and Pauline Collins were great - No Honestly? What about The Good Life?
I'll always have a real soft spot for Judi Dench in As Time Goes By. That was really sweet.
