Holy fucking shit

:{D
People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.

But those letters are not silent.

They're just waiting their turn.

I hope it doesn't turn out to be another one like the one with the armored bears. The Something Compass?

Fervently agreed! :crossfingers:

I sort of liked it, or some of it, too, but I LOVED the books, and I am about 99 % sure that without reading the books the movie would not make much sense. Too rushed.

IMO a movie should be able to stand as an independent story/work/creation, even if it is based on a book. And I freely admit that is not always easy (or even possible) to pull off.

I don't know why I've never seen this before.

I don't generally use words like 'magical' and 'enchanting' as they tend to be associated with the one word critic review quotes of fairy tale princess movies and I would never demasculinate myself like that but add to that 'alluring', 'erotic' and 'menacing' and you not only describe my coming of age, Disney inspired sexual fantasies usually involving that most potent of animated red-heads, Arial the Little Mermaid, but you've also adequately summed up this cult classic.
From the beginning the carefree lifestyle of the Summerisle Islanders draws you in like sirens regailing you with sweet melodies of pagan folk songs and loose sexual morals. Kind of like Butlin's. But all the time you're aware of the insidious danger of these odd people.
This film is full of memorable scences including the temptation of the Christian cop sent to the island to investigate the disappearance of a child. He is led around the garden path and wound up by these outsiders who don't seem to take kindly to his presence on their secluded island meddling in their sacred beliefs and irking them with his talk of "Jesus".
The film manages to hold the mystery throughout and Edward Woodward is great as the police officer out of his depth on an island full of strange people.

See this film.

Not a fantastic film in itself but Ben Kingsley is fucking awesome in it.

'Tis very good. I love the Coen brothers, everyone loves Jeff Bridges. Beautiful cinemtography and genuinely funny dialogue. And it's less than 2 hours long. I HATE films that are over 2 hours long.

"The Three Musketeers". Yet another remake, but this one had some fun with the concept. Don't expect great theater, but do go stoned.

Ghost Dog. One of the best 'Merkin movies I've watched in a long time. Probably not for everyone though.
