Re: More good movies we've seen.
Oh, definitely. That's why I liked it so much.
Re: More good movies we've seen.
Seeing Mousy in her new Aviators reminded me of the fabulous Electra Glide in Blue and encouraged me to dig it out. Still a great film

I took my son to see Cars 2 yesterday. If anybody really wants to hear about it, let me know.

Re: More good movies we've seen.
I'm off to see this tomorrow!!!

What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

Oddly enough I didn't think Skyline was that horrible.
I can live with doubt, and uncertainty, and not knowing. I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. [...] I don’t feel frightened by not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without having any purpose, which is the way it really is, as far as I can tell, possibly. It doesn’t frighten me. - Richard Feynman

Did you like it? It got bad reviews. That in itself doesn't put me off the film. It's more that the first Cars movie was my least favorite Pixar film. In fact, despite the lush animation and the occasion chuckle I got from Larry the Cable Guy, I really didn't like the first one at all. And so I have no desire to see the secondIan wrote:I took my son to see Cars 2 yesterday. If anybody really wants to hear about it, let me know.

Check out the trailer for their next one, though:

I didn't know anything about this! I'd much rather see a new original film, though, rather than a sequel, even if I had liked Cars. I'd rather Pixar focus on something new rather than waste time rehashing old stuff.

Not really a movie. But a DVD, so close enough. Season One of Lucky Louie, starring Louie CK. Funniest goddamn thing I've ever seen in my life!!!

And the best part is that I just discovered there's a second disc in the case with more episodes for me to watch

Re: More good movies we've seen.
Les Revenants (They Came Back). Fantastic film. Quiet and slow moving, like the zombies in it. Seemed like a generally low budget affair. But I quite liked it, and found it to be surprisingly creepy, and surprisingly moving.
Wasn't too keen on the ending is all. Found it rather unfulfilling. But it did generally fit the mood of the rest of the film I guess.
The film really struck a nerve with me because of the parallels between the zombies depicted in the film and the situation of my sister, in which she basically came back from the dead but was not the same person she was. There's enough memory there to make it seem like it might be the same person, but it's not. And it's close enough to give one hope, but always remains far enough away to give you the fucking creeps.

I finally got round to watching Paul today. It was excellent in so many different ways. Felix and I laughed our heads off throughout.

It looked so lame from the trailers. But I love the stars' other films, so of course I'll give it a chance. Doesn't come out on DVD for another month herePappa wrote:I finally got round to watching Paul today. It was excellent in so many different ways. Felix and I laughed our heads off throughout.

It's pure genius. They take on religion in this one quite effectively.tattuchu wrote:It looked so lame from the trailers. But I love the stars' other films, so of course I'll give it a chance. I know they toned down the anti-religious aspect a little, but it was a great big fuck off to religious literalism all the same. I want one of those "Evolve This" t-shirts.Gawdzilla wrote:Told ya!Pappa wrote:I finally got round to watching Paul today. It was excellent in so many different ways.
