Rediscovering my lust for Dr Alice Roberts.

Why did you take it seriously? It was an action flick which used some truths, highly-elaborated other truths... and added an awful lot of fiction. That aside, the English at the time (or, at least, the ones who made political decisions) really were scum. As for the individuals, it wasn't how you portrayed it. There were shitty Scots and (at least) one shitty Irishman. No non-shitty English people spring to mind (been a long time since I watched it) so it perhaps failed there... although it only showed the English folk in occupation/war. It would have been difficult to fit a cosey Devonshire farm into the film, with its rosey-cheeked occupants who wouldn't harm a fly.Animavore wrote:The English: Nothing but a shower of bastards![]()
Isn't amazing how much you change over the course of your life? When I was younger this film was so black and white to me. Now that I'm older and looking at it now I realise they used the English as a convenient enemy which no one was going to question. I can't actually believe how corny this film is looking at it now. It basically stirs up primitive sectarian drives. It's basically a film I once took seriously is now a cartoon.
English = Scum.
Irishy/Scotishy types = Alright.
