46) Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. So awesome I had a boner the whole time I was watching it. Plenty of action, kept my attention the whole time, made me laugh, and got me a little choked up a few times as well. And because it's Timur Whoss-is-name directing, it was full of style. I liked it lots.
I give it four and a half out of five nerdgasms. Lost a half a nerdgasm because it wasn't quite as awesome as Nightwatch, Daywatch, or Wanted.

People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Yeah, cool as hell! I just wish he'd finish the trilogy with Twilight Watch. Now that he's doing Hollywood films, though, he doesn't seem interested in that anymore. Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2012 Edition
47) World's Greatest Dad. With a title like this, and Robin Williams as the lead, you might think this is something it's not. It's actually a dark comedy with Williams giving a very subtle and effective performance. And he's not annoying at all.
In fact everyone in this film gives a great performance. The teen who plays Williams' son is such a fucking dick, so genuinely a complete dick, that you'd never guess it the same boy who was in Spy Kids. I've never seen Spy Kids, but I had to look this actor up to see who the hell he was.
Also great, and in my opinion steals the show, is the son's ("I'm a vegetarian") friend.
I did like the first half of the movie better than the rest, up until.... After that, the film shifts gears a bit and becomes more of a comedy. And the ending I saw coming. But it was the ending I was hoping for, at least, so it's cool.
Overall a very powerful film, surprising in its emotion resonance. And also surprisingly well done compared to the rather amateurish earlier effort by the same director, Shakes the Clown.
I don't often do this, but I liked this one quite a lot. I give it top marks, five out of five Robin Williams' genitals.

48) Brave. Or, How to Train Your Bear. Actually, despite my misgivings, the two films bore only a very superficial resemblance. Brave turned out to be a lot of fun, funny and clever and, as one would expect, visually stunning. I laughed and, at the end, you betcher ass I cried. The ending was, I dunno, maybe a little too schmaltzy. But I still cried like a little girl.
I give it four and a half out of five enchanted meat pies. Lost a half an enchanted meat pie because, although I thought the film was exceptionally well done, I don't think it's as memorable ultimately as many of Pixar's other offerings.

Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2012 Edition
49) Ted. Not as funny as I was expecting. I was under the impression it'd be one rapid-fire joke after another. It wasn't. And the jokes weren't as outrageous as I expected either. I was actually waiting to be shocked or at least taken aback. I never was.
This is not to say the film wasn't funny. It was. I chuckled quite a lot. But it was never tears-running-down-my-cheeks funny. I kept waiting for the really good bits, sure they'd come soon, certain my patience would be rewarded. But the really good bits never came. The father/son Ted admirers, for instance, had a lot of potential, but nothing all that great come of that subplot.
I will say I was surprised that the film was more of a drama than I thought it'd be, and was actually rather touching. I did like that. And it was funny. Just not quite as funny as I'd hoped. I did find the film agreeable enough. It hit all the right notes except for one. I thought it was a mistake when...
I give the film three and a half out of five parsnips. Enjoyable, worth seeing, glad I saw it, but could have been better.

Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2012 Edition
50) Sleeping Dogs Lie. Holy shit this one was good. I liked it better than Word's Greatest Dad, and I loved that one. If I hadn't seen World's Greatest Dad, I would never have imagined someone like Bobcat Goldthwait could create a film with such emotional punch. Funny and sad at the same time and, despite the outrageous (well, to most people, I expect, though not to me) premise, very powerful.
Great acting, particularly from the lead, Melinda Page Hamilton. Fresh, funny, original script. Loved the dialogue. This really never hit a wrong note. Don't expect laugh-out-loud humor, along there are some very funny bits. It's more of a cumulative effect, and it hits you at a more visceral level, both the comedy and the drama. I really felt this film.
And I cried a lot at the end, which is important for me.
I give it five out of five Orbisons.

51) Louie Season 2. Second season of comedian Louie CK's semi-autobiographical comedy series. Wow, this is some really good stuff. And much better than season one- more focused, funnier, sadder, more poignant, more moving, more dramatic, more, well...well done. Interesting blending of life and art. Where does reality end and fiction begin here? Sometimes it's difficult to tell.
I give it five out of five decapitated heads.

Re: The 150 Movie Challenge - 2012 Edition
52) Portlandia Season One. A sketch comedy show starring two folks I've never heard of in which the people of Portland Oregon are gently teased. I guess if you lived in Portland or were otherwise familiar with the culture there, you might appreciate the spoofing more. Still funny for an outsider, though. The show consists of various skits that seem (except for the fact that they're all set in Portland) unrelated at first but then, like League of Gentlemen, end up interconnecting.
Enjoyable appearances by guests like Aimee Mann and Steve Buscemi.
I give it four out of five birds on it.

Tattuchu what is the lowest rating you have given a film, you just seem very generous and most films make 4 or plus "insert number of nouns" of five "nouns"
