The only reason I brought it up is that as someone born in 1981, the original series always seemed like something from ancient history (like things from before one's own birth always do), so it's weird to think that TNG is now itself ancient to a still younger generation.

...That it's 18 years since Star Trek The Next Generation ended; which happens to be how long it was between the original series ending and TNG starting.

Yup, that's a loong time. I remember watching some re-runs of the original series back in the mid-1970's.

Anyway, TNG is currently being re-shown 2 espisodes x weekday.

I must try and dig up a spoof episode "script" from the early 1990's, where Troi's character was shown no mercy. But there was much worse: Her mother. Majel Barrett should have stuck to just doing the computer voice. That was the limit of her abilities.
