Re: Steampunk Films?
"The Golden Compass" had some steampunk overtones, especially the blimps.

Re: Steampunk Films?
I thought there was a shared consensus that we never mention that film again?

At least amongst the people who agreed to never mention it again, yes.Animavore wrote:I thought there was a shared consensus that we never mention that film again?

But it was the type of consensus that doesn't and shouldn't need to be spoken as is self-evident.Gawdzilla wrote:At least amongst the people who agreed to never mention it again, yes.Animavore wrote:I thought there was a shared consensus that we never mention that film again?

But of course. A film so monumentally bad they had to pay people to watch it.leo-rcc wrote:What film? "Wild Wild West"?Animavore wrote:I thought there was a shared consensus that we never mention that film again?

Re: Steampunk Films?
Well I didn't pay to see "Wild Wild West" but I did see "Wild Wild West" on TV and I thought "Wild Wild West" is not bad, apart from the very corny one-liners.Animavore wrote:But of course. I looked at it from the comic book graphic novel level and didn't see a problem with it. It amused me. I ask for no more from a movie.Pappa wrote:I'm not greatly fussed on it.Gawdzilla wrote:"The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen"?

I give up

I never read the graphic novel but I did flick through it and it seemed quite different to me from the film.Gawdzilla wrote:I looked at it from the comic book graphic novel level and didn't see a problem with it. The film wasn't that bad though. Not great either. Just there.

Never picked up a graphic so I couldn't tell. I keep books and movies separate, the "apples v. oranges rule" would apply there.Animavore wrote:I never read the graphic novel but I did flick through it and it seemed quite different to me from the film.
