I ordered "Inglorious Bastards" from Netflix by mistake.

Re: Avatar
Well, I saw Avatar and I was pretty much in awe the whole way through. People were crying, as you might expect, at sad moments in the film, but different groups of people in the cinema were also crying at parts that were just scenery. So glad I didn't see that in 2D. To be honest, 3D has been better for all the new 3D films I've seen (e.g. "Up") but it was still a novelty feature. Better than not having it, but I didn't imagine it would make that much of a difference. But Avatar, wow. I don't want to get it on DVD until I can get a 3D player at home. If you have the choice, go for 3D.
It is probably the most annoying film you could ever see if you have a good knowledge of evolutionary biology. That being said, I was blown away, people of all ages were enjoying it equally, and I think this could be the Star Wars for a new generation. Especially if there are sequels.

Re: Avatar
I think I might see it, but a friend of mine just told me it's eco-terrorist propaganda. Is that true? I haven't looked into the plot (don't want to ruin it.) I just want a good action film with cool special effects, but it's a major turn off when movies get preachy. Should I avoid this film?

It's rated "Not Suitable for OGBs." You might want to stay home.andrewclunn wrote:I think I might see it, but a friend of mine just told me it's eco-terrorist propaganda. Is that true? Its only an action film. Just watch it for the laugh.

Really, how much outrage can you muster against blue people from Alpha Centauri?Animavore wrote:Its only an action film. Just watch it for the laugh.

No idea, I haven't seen it. Though I do admit that when I saw the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still, I wanted to punch a Keanu Reeves in the face... but that's pretty much par for the course to be honestGawdzilla wrote:Really, how much outrage can you muster against blue people from Alpha Centauri?Animavore wrote:Its only an action film. There wasn't that much difference between the two, just different issues. Commies in the first one, "us" in the second one.andrewclunn wrote:No idea, I haven't seen it. I don't think you quite understand. I am concerned about the environment, and against military interventionism. But I'm a conservationist, not a preservationist. I have complete disdain for the preservationists. But I'm digressing and taking this topic into places it doesn't need to be. I'll go see the movie this weekend, and who knows. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Avatar
You've misunderstood the premise of the film to the extent of thinking Jurassic Park is about dinosaurs making a theme park to display humans.Gawdzilla wrote:Really, how much outrage can you muster against blue people from Alpha Centauri?Animavore wrote:Its only an action film. Avatar is for people who would like to punch humans in the face, rather than aliens.andrewclunn wrote:No idea, I haven't seen it. Exactly. It's just a fun action-adventure film. But I'd even suggest watching it just for the special effects alone.Animavore wrote:Its only an action film. Just watch it for the laugh.
