Re: The 150 movie challenge (?) 2011
Solomon Kane, 2009 British film based on the Robert E Howard character. The writer/director didn't use any existing stories, but rather wrote his own. Shame, because this one was somewhat cliche ridden, full of too many coincidences, and at times just silly. The actor playing Kane also spent quite a lot of time grimacing. That seemed to be his only facial expression for the second half of the film.
Still, worth a watch. It's a good looking film, stylishly shot. A much classier affair than the new Conan movie I'm sure. And it started out with such promise, I thought, and had some nice moments. But the ending was stupid.
Apparently this is the first of a proposed trilogy.

Yes, it is a great filmPappa wrote:I love that film.tattuchu wrote:Ma Vie En Rose (My Life In Pink). About a kid who likes to wear dresses and wants to be a girl when he grows up. I can't relate to that specifically, but I can relate to being different growing up and not fitting in. Very well made film that got me choked up a fair few times. My recollection from watching it years ago was that the ending was a fantasy sequence, and thus left the film wither a proper resolution in my view. Turns out my recollection was wrong. The fantasy sequence precedes the ending, an ending which I'd completely forgotten. And while the ending didn't give any concrete answers (how could it, in fairness?), it did wrap things up well enough.

I can think of one use that a certain scene was put to repeatedly during my formative years!!

I apologize for making Pappa watch a chick-flick. I thought it was funny myself, but I only watched it because I heard it was more of a hangover but with chick comedians and because of the cast I thought it was possible...but really it was just a raunchy and watchable chick flick
