No the first half wasn't even reasonable. The astronomy was poor, the claims overreached tremendously, it is popular in these parts because people agree with the conclusion. i also agree that "Jesus" is mythical and his exploits are taken from many prior religious traditions, but a crap argument with crap evidence is still crap even if its conclusion is nominally correct.

Reasonable compared to the second half. It's a technique I've seen used for MLM cons frequently. You get people into a receptive mood and then hit them with the pitch. Good ones make a seemless transition, bad ones jump into the pitch without a proper lead-in.
