People think "queue" is just "q" followed by 4 silent letters.
But those letters are not silent.
They're just waiting their turn.

Did you ever see much Doctor Who - I don't mean the new version which is what it is, but the original bunch? They're all good in one way or another but I still think the ones made in the 1960s were often just incredible. Some were actually recorded live I believe so there's mistimed cues, fluffed lines, disconcerting pauses, wobbly sets, and hilarious monsters (the strangely testicular desert octopus thing in The Chase springs to mind here) but they were made when TV was produced as theatre rather than television so the writing had a different emphasis and for all its apparent flaws some of the seem almost timeless to me now.

The BBC are a bit precious about what they let people put on YouTube so it isn't easy to find the best stuff, but - if it'll even play - that should give you the idea. It's part one of a six part story written by Terry Nation who created the Daleks and really wasn't so great as everyone thinks (he only actually had one story, always involving a quest for the missing whotnot of something or other), but it gives you the idea. Oddly enough the best ones mostly seem to have been the purely historical stories set in Rome or Troy or the wild west - they always managed to get writers with genuine wit for those.

+1 on A Bit Of Fry And Laurie. Here's the first sketch from the first episode of the first of four pant-soakingly amusing series. As has been pointed out, if you've only ever seen Hugh in House, you're in for a treat...
Cheers

Re: British TV Shows?
I thought Primeval was fine, and I especially liked the first season ending.
I always liked Doctor Who, and the new revamped series has some excellent episodes. Loved David Tennant as the Doctor from season 2 to the last specials.
Blackadder is one of the best satires I've ever seen.
I really loved Absolutely Fabulous when I lived in the UK. It was hilarious!
Wish Greek TV was as good as British TV, and didn't spend the money on bad comedies whose jokes might be new in the cretaceous era...

Sounds kind of like Mexican TV. My eyes were popping out of my head when I first saw that.Darkchilde wrote: Wish Greek TV was as good as British TV, and didn't spend the money on bad comedies whose jokes might be new in the cretaceous era...

I spent a lot of years in Athens. From what I could gather, Greek comedies revolve around fat men with annoying voices dressing up in women's clothes.Darkchilde wrote:Wish Greek TV was as good as British TV, and didn't spend the money on bad comedies whose jokes might be new in the cretaceous era...
