Anyone watch this? Anyone agree with me that it is the best American YV drama/cop/crime show of the last decade or more?

It's on my list of things to watch. but I want to start at the beginning, not just catch out of sequence episodes on a dozen channels.

Have you watched Breaking Bad? That is pretty amazing too. The mix of black comedy, realistic violence and bittersweet melodrama is pretty unique for TV in my experience.

I'm not sure that is available in the UK yet. Certainly the Wire has a very realistic feel to it. The language certainly is - no holds barred including the C word occasionally. Not sure how they get away with that in the USA.

In terms of watching episodes in the right order I have Sky and they have a system where you can set the box to record a whole series automatically and then you can watch them as and when you want. Its a really handy service.

HBO to be exact.

I have a confession to make (and yes, I know we have another thread): I decided against watching this partly because of the timing - 23:20 every night on BBC2. I could just record episodes, but I'd never catch up with them - 60 1-hour episodes episodes in 3 months. That's real hours, not 45 minutes plus ads, which the BBC doesn't have anyway. The BBC also screened Mad Men at some awkward late-night times on occasion. :lay:

From what I've seen, it looks very good. I loved Hill Street Blues, but this looks even more realistic, as one would expect given how new it is. I don't understand why it's being broadcast in 4:3 though. Surely it's available in widescreen? :dono:
