Do you think we could convince James Corden to make a remake of Porridge and just lock him up in solitary for a few years? I think the licence payer would happily chip in for that.

The BBC is hardly going to say anything nice about it after the makers snubbed their request for a pilot episode (Jay and Lynn's pithy response: "There are 38 pilots already"). Most of the reviews I read were lukewarm.

Or to put it another way, it is light years better than the BBC's recent execrable sitcom output like "Mrs Brown's Boys" and "Citizen Khan".

"Mrs Brown's Boys" is an acquired taste. Despite being Irish, I have yet to acquired said taste, even though the show has been running for many years here in one or other format.
