Oddly enough, I caught the last 30/40 minutes of this last night, having never seen any of it before.

I came in on the chase scene along the mountain road, and within 10 seconds thought "Oh crap, look how much gratuitous CGI is being used!" :what:

CGI doesn't belong in an Indy film! Or monkey swinging cuteness for kids! As the vid I linked points out Indy kills no one directly in this. Gone are the days of flaming skewers and throwing people under tanks. Speilberg is a granddad now playing it safe and soft :pawiz:

You'd think Spielberg would have learned from Lucas about the dangers in trying to revive an old franchise. :tea:

EDIT: My bad, Lucas is involved in the Indy franchise as well. That makes it an even worse mistake.

Lucas was involved every step of the way.
Another thing I learned from the vid, Lucas wanted the Last Crusade set in a haunted castle and Speilberg wouldn't do that. Did he suddenly lose the will to tell Lucas to stick his dumb-ass ideas? Did he not care any more?

I suspect Grandpa Simpson might have had the answer to that one:
