Has been an atheist since I can remember, though have been trying to find a higher power when I was younger. After a brief period of trying to believe and a subsequent period of trying to make sense of why I cannot believe, I relapsed into my default position of atheism. For a while I have been getting more and more comfortable with my lack of belief, and nowadays I sometimes even venture into discussions about belief, representing atheism and critical thinking to the best of my abilities. My reason for being here is to improve these abilities through discussions and a lot of reading.
The "citizen-activist" in me seems to have been awakened lately, and I find myself standing up for reason more often. I'm interested in promoting rational thinking and science. As a corollary, I see the need to oppose forces that try to stifle reason. I'm trying to do my best on the basis of critical common sense...
