Introducing g8m3
I'm also known as yakk0 from the Rational Response Squad or un0 from youtube (un: un0RRS). My real name is Michael, I have a blog I rarely write for called http://unpleasantcharacters.blogspot.com. I was an early member and contributor for the RRS, a planning member of the Blasphemy Challenge campaign, and an active member of the subsequent youtube fallout. I've been mostly inactive for the last 3 years while I've been forward deployed with the US Military. Now I'm back in the states and the RRS is mostly defunct, the members I know aren't active and the ones who're active, I don't know. There was a large schism that developed when a disagreement between Brian Sapient and Eddie Collins (two close friends) erupted into violence at a convention in DC, and those who didn't choose sides were sortof left hanging in the middle. I rarely speak to either of them anymore.
The youtube debate has been riddled with censorship and controversy, and to the degree it still exists, it's become so bizarrely esoteric, I'd just as soon not waste my time. (The first time someone quoted Jean Beaudrillard, I knew I no longer had a place there.)
So here I am, starting out fresh with new people in a new place. It feels like I'm switching careers. I have to learn the ropes, make friends, and earn respect all over again.
A history of my beliefs, I was raised in a southern baptist family, I always thought religion was one of the practical jokes my mom was playing on me. It wasn't untill I was about 13 that I realised people actually believed in God, and I was shocked. After that I studied the bible like you study something that was just surgically removed from your brain. It never once took hold. I attribute the fact that I never took religion seriously to the fact that my mother loved to play jokes on her gullible children, so I learned at a very young age not to believe everything you are told.

Hi there person with random characters for a name - is there a meaning behind that, or was it just a random faceroll on the keyboard?
Feel free to wander and enjoy. We are pretty strange here but as long as you brought plenty of cheese, you should fit in OK.

You talk to God, you're religious. God talks to you, you're psychotic.

What's up, g8m3. Have a look around and see if you can find something to play with. We tend to play a lot, but some of us can be buggered to discuss serious topics. (Oh, and there's a few who reside permanently on their soapbox, too.) Would it be undelicate to ask where you were deployed? We've got a few vets here, too. (Not me)

I just did 3 years in the US Navy's only permanently forward deployed airwing. We were based out of Japan, but spent most of our time at sea, so I've been all over Japan, as well as visiting Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, Busan in Korea, Guam, Sydney, Brisbane, and Perth in Australia, Singapore, and Hong Kong in China. The ports were pretty cool, but our job was no joke, so I'm definitely glad to be home.
I got a nice soapbox, but I've been known to step off once in a while. I'll throw a few sea-stories at you guys when I want a laugh.

I'm pretty sure anyone with a penis that's BEEN to Busan has similar stories. But first I have to find the NSFW catagory. (Seriously, I noticed it earlier and now I can't find it... wtf?)
