Did you enjoy watching your peers engage in internet gang rape and anti intellectualism? Fun stuff, huh?

I'd suggest a move like that, but it's hard to make rules about. You have to get moderators to pay attention to it and so far they seem singularly unmotivated. I cannot say why. They also seem to like to post moderator warnings about things they then claim aren't against the rules. I'm still trying to figure out whether this is someone's sick idea of a joke.

It means stopping someone from saying things you don't like by a means other than proving they're wrong, normally by getting them in trouble for something unrelated.

No, we're just changing the rules so that anyone using that phrase more than five times in their posts gets their birthday taken away. :lay:

You really should get a life you know. The mods are all nice people who, despite their extortionate salaries and huge privileges, manage to do a decent sort of job most of the time. And it doesn't really matter if they don't.

But I'm not getting into any fights right now. I took a week off cos I was swinging a little wildly myself.

Just in case there's some question.

BTW, calling Seth a jackbooted thug was probably over the line and I expected to be checked with it. What I did not expect is for a moderator to state that a) gaming the system is not "stay[ing] within the rules" and b) accusing someone of gaming the system is gaming the system. The first is not against the rules, patently, and you yourself have said so. The second is plain flat ludicrous. It would be funny if it weren't so dangerous. This is not moderation, it's inflammation.
If you read the mod note you'll see that it wasn't for "gaming the system" but for not "playing nice" which is out rule that covers harassment and similar behaviours.

I kinda have the same problem. Maybe you didn't notice. I guess it's another one of those things that aren't important unless they affect you, right?
You're the one who comes in complaining that some forum you've just joined isn't living up to it's potential.

Why do you care so much that it was mentioned that you were gaming the system even though gaming the system isn't against the rules (nevermind that "gaming the system" is, by my definition playing by the rules to achieve a goal that was outside what the rules intended) and wasn't the relevant part of the reminder that you admitted that you were expecting and deserved.

What is it, if not nitpicking for the purpose of annoying people?

You do ask inconvenient questions perhaps, why not try for relevant and challenging also.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

This has already been called "blaming the victim" twice on this thread, and no one has presented any evidence so far to deny it.

I have a life. I'm trying to add this site to it, but it's looking pretty much like this site is a cluster fuck to me. I'm rapidly losing interest. I have many other things to do. I spent some time writing here, and got two moderator warnings that then turned out to be for things that the moderators all claim aren't against the rules. That's a cluster fuck.

I'm not looking for a fight. But I'm not backing down on any claims, either; I'm not wrong. If I were, someone would be trying to convince me, not changing the subject, engaging in gang rape, gaming the system, and making moderator posts that are internally and/or externally inconsistent and then denying it.

I'm decrying the fact it's a cluster fuck.

ETA: But that's not OK, right? And the penalty is gang rape.

Nice. You have great ethics.

Then it was miswritten and you need to admit that and move on. Instead I'm getting gang raped. It doesn't inspire confidence.

Then it was written wrong, and you need to admit that, correct it, and move on instead of participating in a gang rape.

A friend of mine is wondering how you can gang rape someone on the internet?
I'm wild just like a rock, a stone, a tree
And I'm free, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I flow, just like a brook, a stream, the rain
And I fly, just like a bird up in the sky
And I'll surely die, just like a flower plucked
And dragged away and thrown away
And then one day it turns to clay
It blows away, it finds a ray, it finds its way
And there it lays until the rain and sun
Then I breathe, just like the wind the breeze that blows
And I grow, just like a baby breastfeeding
And it's beautiful, that's life
