Schneibster, repeatedly accusing someone of gaming the system... is not playing nice (not to mention, gaming the system!). This is a reminder to please stay within the rules.
Just in case there's some question.

BTW, calling Seth a jackbooted thug was probably over the line and I expected to be checked with it. What I did not expect is for a moderator to state that a) gaming the system is not "stay[ing] within the rules" and b) accusing someone of gaming the system is gaming the system. The first is not against the rules, patently, and you yourself have said so. The second is plain flat ludicrous. It would be funny if it weren't so dangerous. This is not moderation, it's inflammation.

The text you quote does not say that gaming the system is against the rules. However, if, in the course of gaming the system while complaining about people gaming the system you also break the rules, then it is fair game to mention it parenthetically I think. What do you want? a revised version of the reminder of the rules? Just go look at them.
What I've found with a few discussions I've had lately is this self-satisfaction that people express with their proffessed open mindedness. In realty it ammounts to wilful ignorance and intellectual cowardice as they are choosing to not form any sort of opinion on a particular topic. Basically "I don't know and I'm not going to look at any evidence because I'm quite happy on this fence."

OK.

ETA: If this is how the rest of the "staff review" is going to go, don't bother. I'm not interested in your word games. It's bullshit, and now you personally are not trustworthy for trying it. Especially after spending five posts trying to make this about me instead of admitting you (corporate) fucked up and should have left me alone.

Worse things happen at sea, eh. Or just sitting on the sofa. I dropped a biscuit in my tea earlier. Mortified doesn't come close.

While that may be the case for you, assuming it is for me is pretty much blaming the victim.

If anyone has any other underhanded rhetorical tricks to try, please skip it. It's irritating.

Not really though, eh.

You can't really be that bothered.

Pointing out holes in your rules and your procedures isn't underhanded, and it's not a rhetorical trick. Pretending it is, however, is. Sorry you're having trouble with reality.

You've read the rules carefully then?

Our rules are deliberately loose and full of holes and open to interpretation by the staff. That is how most members like it. And, furthermore, that has been mentioned many times in responses to you. Pretending not to understand that and continuing to argue that they are not being rigorously applied is very much a rhetorical trick.

The fact that you want it to be different is irrelevant, frankly. When you can persuade the majority of the membership to see things your way, we'll happily change things. Good luck with that. :tea:
