I had over 7k posts. I still can't believe it. I certainly won't ever be able to understand it, the community was so strong, even with all the recent technical faults. I can understand them upgrading the system and doing a wipe, but why change it entirely by removing the staff, the forum structure and the ability to freely start topics? It doesn't make sense.

I think the 'charitable status' pretext was part of the real reason underlying those actions. Professor Emeritus Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Doctor Richard Dawkins (yes, he has nine doctorates, eight of them honoris causa) has made a very unsubtle hint indicating that he'd just love to add a knighthood to his list of formal honours, and to get one of those one must not be seen to be associated with anything 'improper'.

It looks like the not-so-subtle advertising over at the RD forums paid off at least. A few familiar names have signed up recently so hopefully a good chunk of the posters migrated to here. I can imagine Dawkins et al are going to regret this little adventure one day.
