MSNBC Poll on In God We Trust and E-Mail Campaign for Votes

Post by Gawdzilla Sama » Thu Mar 26, 2009 11:46 am

Borrowed from skepticforum.com:
Centaur wrote:MSNBC.com is running a poll today asking if the motto In God We Trust should be removed from US currency. I’ve been flooded with chain e-mails asking me to vote no, in all cases by acquaintances that seem to think I’m a good guy and will vote as they did. Instead I voted yes. You also may want to vote your preference. Before the e-mail campaign started a slight majority voted to remove the motto. Afterward, about three-quarters voted not to remove it.

What is your opinion of the motto on the currency? What do you think of those who initiated the chain e-mail?

Below is an example of one of the letters sent to me that includes a link to the poll.

Please take the time to vote.

Here's your chance to let the media know where the people stand on our

faith in God, as a nation. NBC is taking a poll on 'In God We Trust' to

stay on our American currency. Please send this to every Christian you

know so they can vote on this important subject. Please do it right

away, before NBC takes this off the web page.

Poll is still open so you can vote.

By me forwarding it, you know how I feel.

I'd be willing to bet that the poll in question is one from ages ago. Bloody thing keeps popping up every couple of months, and last I checked it had something like 200 million votes or some shit. It was poll-bombed from both sides.
I came here to sneer at the Cats and JimC. Stayed to see what was going on. Oh, yeah, blasphemy is a victimless crime.

Should the motto "In God We Trust" be removed from U.S. currency? 13244498 responses

Yes. It's a violation of the principle of separation of church and state.

No. The motto has historical and patriotic significance and does nothing to establish a state religion.
