With that logic all you need are breeding pairs. The rest you baptise and kill.

Since heaven is so much better than Earth, it's the kindest most loving thing you could do to any baby.
Apart from going straight to heaven, you remove the chance that they will go bad, and end up in hell.

All true believers should be killing their babies. You know it makes sense.

Obvious answer to the BBC's question. That is where the real money is. Get them rich old un's thinking about where they are going after this life, and what a donation to the Church might achieve in terms of bribing the guy who runs them pearly gates.

The price of a pleasant, and final, delusion? Could be money well spent.
