This video has been popping up all over my Facebook and forums the last week (I posted it myself too, but I was first). It's funny how non-Irish people, like the OP of this thread, tend to focus on the Fry aspect of the interview in their titles, usually not even mentioning the interviewer, while all the Irish people focus on the Gay aspect of the interview on theirs.

I am more than a bit amused that some Irish people are getting het up about this. I mean: Everyone knew that Fry was an atheist, didn't they? What on earth did they expect him to say?

His said nothing that has not already been said countless times in many different ways. It's just re-working Epicurus and the problem of evil.

I always think it's a bit pointless for atheists to answer the old chestnut "yes, but what happens if you die and find there is a god"

Simple answer "fuck off, there ain't no sky fairy, ask me another question..."

I don't think that would have passed muster somehow. We're a bit more relaxed censorship-wise than you might expect ("bastard" doesn't get bleeped in The Simpsons), but had he done that, there would have been a re-take, and a stern word from dear Uncle Gaybo.

It would have made for a great blooper reel though.
