Jesus, just another comic book superhero

Post by A Monkey Shaved » Mon Apr 12, 2010 1:54 am

A a kid I loved cartoon superheros from being such as Superman, Astro Boy and Mighty Mouse with their extraordinary special powers. As I was indoctrinated into the Christian religion I was duped into believing that there was at least one person in history blessed with extraordinary powers that made him stand out from us ordinary mortals such as walking of water to performing miracles on the blind and crippled. The as I matured I began to question Jesus's so call extraordinary powers and just dimissed him as ficticious as any comic book superhero.

BTW I was given an illustrated copy of the New Testimant illustrated and written in a comic book format as a present as a kid which I read and stashed away in my toy box with all my other comic books.

Just because more people believe Jesus is the son of God and not the son of Satan does not make it any truer.

The more people come to that realisation, of any religious creed, the better off we'll all be.

It could have been worse for you.... these kids bouncing about in the video below really are being brainwashed into thinking Jesus is their literal superhero... but perhaps they too will dismiss it as ficticious as any comic book superhero when they grow up. It does seem like a very shallow and disposable image for a deity.

What's this he is the one that made the sun shine and he is the one that put the moon in the sky? Even Jerry Siegel the co-creator of Superman would think that would be a little too far fetched. Just think some fictitious character that could power the sun and move planets around and not even kryptonite could kill, what a ridiculously far fetch assumption!!. He should have taken on the entire Roman Army single handedly and kicked them out of Israel if he possessed such extraordinary powers.

I thought superman was doing well just lifting that car

Yeah, right on. Jesus is like the omnipotent daddy of all the superheroes ....and all the other superheroes are like his cool little angels... in tights and with capes for wings. They do the dirty work like lifting cars and rounding up bank robbers. Would Jesus wear tights, need a cape and be bothered with small time crooks? I don't think so. No sirree.

Excuse me, but Jesus also does the silly stuff - who chased the piggies into the sea, who cursed the fig tree ("Fuck OFF fig tree !!!!!!) , who organised the booze at the wedding rave, who organised the snacks at the open-air Christian rock fest?

Please be more careful :naughty:
So you are saying that the reason why God created the universe, including millions of years of human and animal suffering, and the extinction of most species, is so that at the end of all of that a select few humans could be with him forever. I see.

A useful corrective on the extremes of both fundamentalism and mythicism can be found here --
