Epic post. It does have punctuation, though
Good afternoon. I am a believer and I do not think other believers get angry about the views of unbelievers, its that we are saddened and want you to be saved and not go to hell!! Satan is the master of deception. He has people fooled thinking they know what they are doing and saying and they dont. Unbelievers are doomed and "we" believers dont want to see you banished in hell because you are being tricked. You cannot read the bible and say that there is no "God"! There is no human being, witch, soothsayer..etc that could be that accurate to predict things that will happen that far away in the future. Look at us now, we are living in the last days! "Read Revelations"! Read the Bible! Look at the "seasons".."You will not know the seasons"! Who could have predicted that? Family's will be torn apart and parents will be against children and vice versa! Who could prophecy all of these things that come true? We do have free will to do as we please, but God is not going to trick us like the devil and make us follow him. We have to choose. Believers dont want unbelievers to choose the wide road, to hell, we want them to become believers and choose the narrow road to Glory! An Atheists life must be soo empty and unfulfilling. I could not imagine not having my Jesus with me everyday! The devil is the master of deception! He loves situations like this because he knows he has already lost the war, he just wants to destroy as many souls as he can to hurt God! Dont believe his lies! There is a God! I have felt him and I know he is as real as I am sitting here writing to you right now! We arent threatened by "sin", we are sinners ourselves. We know that Jesus has saved us and we want unbelievers to be saved also. No human can stop sinning. Whether they are a believer or unbelliever, but the acceptance of the blood of Christ is what saves us. And we become convicted by our sins and may tend to not do some "sins", but still have to deal with others! There is no way to get past that. And as believers we are obligated to spread light where there is darkness. Now, I am a sinner and a believer. I sin and everyone else does. I want my sins brought to my attention so I can understand that its wrong. I may not get it right away, may feel like the person needs to mine his or her business, but one day I may say, that is correct, I need to pray to stop doing that sin! We can never be sin free, but our job here is to come as close as possible and encourage each other. Believers or unbelievers!! So, its not that same sex marriage is validating a believer, its that we know that is a sin! Just like murder, lying, stealing, gossiping, not loving one another, getting revenge, being evil etc. Its just a "fact" and we want to save not hurt people. Some believers may come off the wrong way, but the intent is the same, to bring you to the light. I am a believer but even if I wasnt I wouldnt condone pediphilia because the person says they were born that way and couldnt help it and wanted to live his/her life the way that made them happy. It's like being a shepherd and trying to save your sheep. The intention is not to judge people or turn them away, its to invite them to know Jesus and receive his peace and love and be saved from the torments of hell. Faith is what makes you a believer!!! So, please dont think that believers just want to judge and put people down and be judgemental. Its our job to try and bring more to Jesus and reveal Satans deception. God Bless You!!

Me: Perhaps I've told the main incident before. I had almost given up on Lutherans when back for a summer in the "old country". Three women in the family talked me into it. I had confirmation class with a couple of kids that the pastor of the area managed to do aside from the camp that that had been earlier that summer. We had confirmation. A year later a bigger vehicle crashed into the the pastor's little Fiat where his small kids were in the back seat. Both killed. End of religion for me at 16. The pastor survived as pastor, I guess.

Him, a sort of agnostic of some sort:
You mean that until this accident, you did not know that such things were common? If so, I assume you would have become an atheist earlier. Please don't take this the wrong way. I am an atheist myself and always knew that there were wars, crime, accidents and injustice in the world. Did you just assume that any god would have constructed a world without these natural and man driven forces such as evil and chance? People are sometimes in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Me:
What are you thinking? I was 16! The close personal case was more than enough. What would I care about wars and such? It was just the tipping point for me. Maybe I never cared to think through it before?

In any case, my teenage mind considered the options. Either god was useless or there was none. The latter seemed a relief, really.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE KING JAMES BIBLE IS THE BEST!, June 29, 2014

In 1976 I got saved and was taught out of the King James Bible but over the years moved to various modern versions until one day I came to learn the modern versions were corrupt by design. The deity of Jesus Christ was watered down by missing verses and changed wording so I am back in the BEST version, the King James. This Bible I bought for my 6 year old granddaughter who is learning how to read!

"All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." 2 Timothy 3:16,17

Had a discussion about xtians on message boards. Got me to thinking, there on Amazon:

I was imagining "pound down" as that kid toy with the six pegs. You pound them down. They come out the other side. Then you pound them down again! What fun!

I'm thinking of marketing an atheist toy where you pound down 12 disciples.

I guess Jesus would be the plastic hammer.

My zip code moves to add God signs
BALLWIN • The Ballwin Board of Aldermen approved Monday night for city staff to consider a design, locations and the cost to add a sign stating "In God We Trust."

Joe Strange, a representative of Holy Infant Knights of Columbus, said the group is looking to donate $750 toward the cost of the sign, to be placed on city property

No city in St. Louis County has this motto listed at any of its city's buildings, although the state of Missouri ranks third behind Arkansas and California with the most cities to recognize the patriotic message, Strange said.

City Attorney Robert Jones said there is no case law to refute any religious overtones. In fact, he added the statement is so ingrained in the America fabric that it has become more of a patriotic slogan than a religious one. (Special to the Post-Dispatch)

'Patriotic message'? Just wait till the Odinists hear about this!

The dangers of home schooling. Your dumb religious mom may try to kill you:

When an Illinois woman began receiving “end of the world” messages from her estranged pastor husband, she reacted in a manner very few parents would: by attempting to kill her three daughters.

Talking to an atheist who lives in Japan and was being nice to theists:
Eric, to your earlier post and the value or interest in religion: I no longer have any. I can't say I was really interested in religion or any of the things that led to atheism in my 30s and 40s. In my 50s I had a little interest. My kids knew no religion, so as a test we tried being Unitarian maybe 2 years. After all, they will probably marry people whose parents at least were Christian or Jewish. But none of it stuck. I read the new testament and a few Unitarian books etc etc. None of it stuck. I can run through some arguments to summarize why Christianity is a made up evolved thing from people who wished it to be true. But nowadays, I don't bother.

Best thing of the last 10 years: I've lost all superstition and anything related to the supernatural.

Me to some kind of agnostic:

One of the things I've come across most often with theists has to do with feelings. They think someone declaring to be an atheist has to be a completely rational, cold person who makes some kind if calculated decision on all matters.

Though feelings are the core of belief, they are pretty much the same for anyone that grew up in a normal caring family. I do admit my empathy reaches to a much smaller number of people. I will help strangers after making my cold calculated risk analysis. ;-)
