Joining a religion is like playing the lottery.
Pascal said so, his bet was that being religious was a winning ticket while not being so was like refusing to buy a ticket.

The ticket has a price. And the chance to win a million from a ticket is very slim.

With regard to religion: The price of the ticket is very high. And the chances there actually is a price is very low.

If you accept what Pascal said, the likelihood of winning from his bet was extremely high, and the price but slight.
Of course, however small that price, you still had to be serious about paying for your ticket.

We both know that this was pure gobbledigook, but that's still what he tried to foist off onto his contemporaries.

Well, what you say really doesn't matter, except to yourself. It does not change the world.
