JOZeldenrust:
Zero placed name functions refer directly to things.
ok i got that. all you saying is that its a label.
"JOZeldenrust" is a zero placed name function. It refers to me.
right. got it.
"Mother" is a one placed name function.
so youre saying its not a label but its an ingredient on the label. like a description on the bottle.
In itself it doesn't refer to anything.
doesnt it refer to whats inside the bottle?
The place can be filled with a zero placed name function, like "JOZeldenrust", resulting in the new zero placed name function "JOZeldenrusts mother", which does refer to a thing. (no, my mum won't mind me calling her a thing, as she's a sensible woman)
"Water" is also a zero placed name function. "Wet" isn't. "Wet" doesn't refer to anything.
of course it does mate. wet is a description of a lady in my lap.
However, other then "mother", it's impossible to turn "wet" into a term that refers to a thing by making a relative connection like you can with "mother". You need a predicative connection, because "wet" is a one placed sentence function. It is possible to connect "wet" to a zero placed name function like "JOZeldenrusts mother", but it requires a different construction: "JOZeldenrusts mother is wet." This term refers to a thing, a state of affairs to be exact.
you lost me there mate.
Same goes for any property a thing can have, like beauty, colour, taste etc. These properties do not exist in themselves, they only exist as properties of things.
thats exactly what i said mate.
a work of divine art like Cheyrl is beautiful. i can point to her and say this is beauty.
only Allah creates true beauty. if you know anyone else, then let me know.
