Islam is just simply growing fast because it is breeding faster as their population growth rate is later in levelling out like in the West. Years ago it was argued that if you are from a large family your parents were either sex maniacs or strict Catholics, but these days Islam is fill the same niche that was once more the domain of Roman Catholics. Because although population growth rate is declining in most ethic groups including Islam, the population growth rate decline in Islam is often nowhere near as dramatic as in the West, and in some regions and countries may still even be growing rapidly. That is my theory. 
Just because more people believe Jesus is the son of God and not the son of Satan does not make it any truer.

Putting aside for the moment the fact that Islam is a religion and not an ethnic group, population growth appears almost entirely linked to lack of education and poverty. Economic development leads almost automatically to lower population growth.
