A village on the flood plain of the Euphrates. Surprised by an unusually big annual river flood, a man lashes a few logs together so that he along with wife, kids and favorite sheep can move a short distance to higher ground. Much later it made a good story to tell the grandkids round the camp fire, with a few embellishments. Probably happened a thousand times to different people and embellishments added to embellishments. Many cultures have flood myths for the same reason. :coffee:
Although it may look like a forum, this site is actually a crowd-sourced science project modelling the slow but inexorable heat death of the universe.

Many places have flood myths because people have a habit of building their towns and cities along rivers and by the sea! There are no flood myths in Nepal. :tea:

Yes, it all makes sense. If you believe in a "firmament" above the sky, with vast oceans above that.
And an "underworld" down below, where the water could drain away to. Etc etc.

If you accept dna science though, there would be a clear marker, in the dna of every animal on earth, of a population bottleneck of two individuals, all on the same date.

And you would need an explanation for how the fuck the two Pandas managed to restore the population, given that they hardly ever breed, and they dispersed into an environment the size of the Earth.

How the fuck did they FIND each other, let alone breed? And how much bamboo grows around Mount Ararat? (especially after being submerged miles deep in salt water, for over a month)

And how did predators that need to kill every few days survive when the water went down, and there were only two of each prey animal over the entire globe?

The answer of course, is that god did it.
He's great.
He can do anything.
While there is a market for shit, there will be assholes to supply it.
