The only Charles III I'll recognize left the UK for good in 1745.

Catholic on the throne. Peasantry won't stand for it. And neither will Parliament. This be the seeds of a new civil war.

You're on your own. Nobody else acknowledged the Young Pretender, Bonnie Prince Charlie, as Charles III. Not even the Catholic Kings of France and Spain or the Pope. And of course he was never crowned as such, which is what ultimately matters.

The succession is going to cost a fucking fortune. The size of every coin and banknote will have to be increased in order to accommodate the size of the new King's ears. Then the slots of all ATMs and other vending machines will have to be modified to accept the new money.

Since every shitpile that soiled the throne since 1688 has been a blatant usurper, whatever the archbishop of canterbury and parliament may say, I'll abide by my own opinion

Usurpers predate William II by a long shot. All English/British monarchs have been usurpers since at least 1066. And that presupposes the most dominant of the robber-barons is a legitimate ruler of people.

For some reason, I do attribute a modicum of legitimacy to the House of Stuart, though of course, the houses of Mac Alpin, or of Dunkeld/Canmore would be more legitimate if a decent heir could be found, since they don't bear the Norman taint.

This is so disappointing! I expected them to enter the castle and carry little bags with toiletries and maybe a laptop and personal snacks and maybe a cat or two. So they can get to watching Netflix and waving from the balcony.

Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Turn stone to bread right away...
