Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Turn stone to bread, said Daemon Duncetan
Turn stone to bread right away...

USAsians, any thoughts on the new anti-semitism bill that criminalises criticism of the state of Israel in some circumstances? Against 1A of the constitution?

Going to take a wild guess and predict that it does nothing of the sort.

I fully expect this to go to court pretty soon, and likely to go up to the Nazgûl , whose attitude is going to decided by whether sufficient bribes have been given for them to blatantly open a gash in 1A protection.

The actions of any government should be open to criticism by anybody. No law should conflate "Fight the Zionist occupiers" with "Death to the Jews".

Sure enough, all it does is direct the Department of Education to use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working definition of antisemitism when enforcing federal anti-discrimination laws.

I am shocked that this law would be misrepresented by people who want to be able to call for the genocide of Jews without consequence, just shocked

Who (aside from elements within Hamas etc.) is calling for the genocide of Jews? The vast majority of pro-Palestinian protestors in western countries currently are criticising the Israeli governments policies on Palestinians and current military actions in Gaza, and calling for a ceasefire. The majority are also calling for a 2 State solution, which is a moderate, internationally recognised position. Even those who are calling for the abolition of the state of Israel (and I disagree with them) are not baldly advocating genocide of Jews. Unlike some of the hawks in the Israeli cabinet, who wanted to completely sterilise Gaza...
