Said Peter...what you're requesting just isn't my bag
Said Daemon, who's sorry too, but y'see we didn't have no choice
And our hands they are many and we'd be of one voice
We've come all the way from Wigan to get up and state
Our case for survival before it's too late

Of course they'll oppose every appointment. If they get the House in 2022 they'll impeach, and if they still have the Senate they'll convict. Did anyone think there wasn't going to be tit-for-tat after the last 4 years?
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

Well, I used to think there was some integrity in Washington, somewhere.

Apparently Biden received a lot more dark money than Trump.
President-elect Joe Biden. Nearly $132 million in anonymous money backed his White House bid, compared to nearly $22 million to aid President Donald Trump, according to an analysis by the Center for Responsive Politics for CNN.

...surely that should say "compared to just $22 million"... bias!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111111!!!!

Is it dark money or is it donations under $5k that don't have to be declared by donor?
Rationalia relies on voluntary donations. There is no obligation of course, but if you value this place and want to see it continue please consider making a small donation towards the forum's running costs.
Details on how to do that can be found here.

It's dark money, we just don't know who gives the money.
The spending was fueled by massive anonymous donations, including one gift totaling $51.7 million.

But with donations like that in 2018 I think we can be reasonably sure the bulk of it isn't from small contributions.

I suppose if they oppose every appointment, Biden can go the acting route since there's ample precedent. I've already heard Democrats saying he should skip the Congress and just rule by executive order.

Yeah, I'm hoping Biden is old enough to remember that.

Having the executive separate from the legislature is a good idea, but governing that way does rather depend on a kind of honour system. Unfortunately that seems to have ridden away on wild horses some time ago.

Everybody works for Biden in 2021, except congress and supreme court, and even the SC gets a paycheck from the federal court system. Some 2 million Americans.

I am against legislating from the bench or the Oval Office, but this is the natural consequence of a poorly designed system of government that gives one turtle fucker from Kentucky veto power over the entire legislative process.
