WTF It is only Liz popping her clogs:

Security operation for Queen’s death includes social media blackouts
Secret documents reveal scale of funeral strategy and government anxieties over resources

The UK government’s vast security operation to manage the immediate aftermath of the death of the Queen include official social media blackouts and a ban on retweets.

The secret documents, codenamed Operation London Bridge and seen by Politico, reveal the scale of the plans for the funeral and government anxieties about whether the UK has the resources to execute them.

The social media strategy plays a prominent role, including plans to change the royal family’s website to a black holding page with a short statement confirming the Queen’s death, while the gov.uk website and all governmental social media pages will display a black banner. Non-urgent content will not be published and retweets will be banned unless cleared by the government’s head of communications.

The documents show plans for the Queen’s coffin to be taken on a procession from Buckingham Palace to the Palace of Westminster, where it will lie on a raised box known as a catafalque, which will be open to the public for 23 hours a day for three days. Tickets with a time slot will be issued for VIPs.

The plans for Operation London Bridge and Operation Spring Tide, which sets out how Charles will accede to the throne, contain granular detail such as the potential for public anger if Downing Street cannot lower its flags to half-mast within 10 minutes of the announcement since there is no “flag officer”.
Is it expected to trigger a revolution? Not a bad thing considering the state of the British royal family.

Elections bill is ‘a power grab to rig polls in favour of Tories’
Charities and unions slam move as an attack on fundamental rights

Boris Johnson’s government is today accused of trying to rig future elections by stifling opposition and deterring participation, as a storm of protest erupts over its controversial elections bill, which is to be debated in parliament this week.

In an open letter, charities including Save the Children, independent campaign groups such as Greenpeace, and the trades union movement, condemn the legislation as “an attack on the UK’s proud democratic tradition and some of our most fundamental rights”.

The Labour party last night confirmed it would vote against the second reading of the bill, which will confer new powers on Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove over the hitherto independent Electoral Commission, which oversees elections and regulates political finance, in the Commons on Tuesday.

Cat Smith, the shadow minister for democracy said: “The Conservative government’s elections bill is a brazen attack on our democracy and the freedom of people to organise politically. The ability of trade unions and civil society organisations to engage and campaign are vital components of any free and democratic society. This is all about the government rigging democracy in favour of the Conservative party.”

The government says the bill has been drawn up to ensure “that UK elections remain secure, fair, modern, inclusive and transparent”. But its many critics says it amounts to a “power grab”, while doing nothing to stop big money donations.
It is really so ridiculous as the UK was and is not a democracy so long as gerrymandering takes place. Not all votes are equal.

Boris Johnson faces growing red wall rebellion over social care tax rises
PM will tell mutinous MPs healthcare system is in crisis and they ‘cannot expect it to recover alone’

Boris Johnson will tell mutinous MPs that the healthcare system is in crisis and they “cannot expect it to recover alone” as he faces a growing red wall rebellion over tax rises.

One Conservative frontbencher told the Guardian they were considering their position over a planned national insurance rise to fund an overhaul of social care and tackle the NHS backlog.

They questioned the point of serving a government that was not pursuing the 2019 Tory manifesto, with a second pledge, on the pensions triple lock, also set to be broken. A series of MPs from former Labour red wall seats complained that the tax increase would hit workers in their constituencies while leaving pensioners untouched.

On Tuesday the prime minister will frame the tax increase, which could raise up to £10bn a year with a 1.25% rise in national insurance contributions (NICs) for employers and employees, as essential to combat the NHS waiting list crisis.

In the long term, funding will be used for social care costs once a patient reaches a costs cap, thought to be about £80,000. Under the current system, anyone with assets of over £23,350 funds their care in full, and about one in seven people pay over £100,000.

Seems like it's now up to the political editor of the Daily Mail to challenge BoJo's lying and legacy rather than the leader of the opposition...
