1,009 new cases and 20 new deaths in the United Kingdom. England has removed 5,377 deaths from its time series.

"On 17 July, the Secretary of State asked Public Health England (PHE) to urgently review the way daily death statistics are currently reported.

A review into the method used to calculate these figures considered a range of scientific evidence to identify the best time limit to apply between date of test and date of death.

The new daily measure provides a UK-wide count of deaths under a consistent methodology for England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales that has been endorsed by an external review.

The measure will be based on a 28-day limit between the date of a positive lab-confirmed test and date of death. Deaths that occur more than 28 days after a positive test will not be included in the headline count."

Excess deaths are still running at over twice the 5 year average no matter how they slice it.

Say the ONS, who've counted the death certificates. And before you play the #FAKESTATSCONSPIRACY joker you'll have to account for all the doctors who've signed those certificates and all the registrars who've registered those death.

Brian they all enjoy the kool-aid buddy. Just lobbing off 5300 deaths. Just what happens if they say the time difference has to be an hour? YEP here we go?

US excess deaths are over 200,000. So 40 odd thousand more than the official covid deaths.

But they haven't lobbed off the deaths - they've just reclassified 5k of them as non-covid. As I said, the excess death rate still tells the story about the UK government's management of the pandemic, as excess deaths in your own country tells the story about your own government's handling of the matter.

Sanity is still prevailing here. Parliament still has to approve all action taken. Nobody is thrilled about about face masks which obviously are not working but their imposition appears to be one of a last ditch attempt by governments unable to think any further than their arses.
Schools start here next week and not a mask in sight. Ventilation is the new buzz word. Ventilation in care homes where high mortality appeared were found to be recirculating up to 80% of the air. This practice has now been stopped and only fresh air is being pumped in. This also true in public transport and questions are being asked about mandatory wearing of masks. Misuse of masks are considered a source of infection with little or no control of their use.

Can you explain how "misuse of masks" could be a source of infection (except multiple people sharing the same mask)

Well, not using them at all is one. Not using them properly is another.

Any other time the wearing of masks reduces the spread of the current pandemic as illustrated in this analogy:

Simple read the WHO guidelines. Touching masks then touching other surfaces or your own face. Disposable masks should be disposed of and not reused.

So, if you don't wear a mask, the stuff lands on your face directly. A lot worse
