Ed Yong breaks it down for the books. There's plenty of blame to go around, but Trump's part cannot be denied. Yong describes him as a 'comorbidity' in the failure of the US, with all its money and resources, to mount an effective response as a nation to the pandemic.

'How the Pandemic Defeated America'
Despite ample warning, the U.S. squandered every possible opportunity to control the coronavirus. And despite its considerable advantages—immense resources, biomedical might, scientific expertise—it floundered. While countries as different as South Korea, Thailand, Iceland, Slovakia, and Australia acted decisively to bend the curve of infections downward, the U.S. achieved merely a plateau in the spring, which changed to an appalling upward slope in the summer. “The U.S. fundamentally failed in ways that were worse than I ever could have imagined,” Julia Marcus, an infectious-disease epidemiologist at Harvard Medical School, told me.

...

Trump is a comorbidity of the COVID‑19 pandemic. He isn’t solely responsible for America’s fiasco, but he is central to it. A pandemic demands the coordinated efforts of dozens of agencies. “In the best circumstances, it’s hard to make the bureaucracy move quickly,” Ron Klain said. “It moves if the president stands on a table and says, ‘Move quickly.’ But it really doesn’t move if he’s sitting at his desk saying it’s not a big deal.”

Isn't an Americanophile someone who wants to have sex with Americans, just like an Anglophile is someone who wants to have sex with a protractor?
No Americanophile would be having sex with a type of coffee, I believe you Merkins call it 'covfefe', a dangerous and not very pleasant experience. I've been told.

I listened as far as 2:43 mark. At that point the interview got too predictable for me to continue. Slow learner I am. :levi:

But then you miss the part where he takes out the heap of papers with colorful boxes and lines on them and starts pointing at them randomly.

My God, I just saw a three minute excerpt from that. It was the colourful charts bit. He's so incredibly stupid.

Rare child death in NE. I think a few others, but only some 5-10 statewide, under 18.

Donald Trump
Trump again claims Covid-19 will 'go away' as Fauci warns of long road ahead
Fauci says virus may be under control at end of 2021 as US faces 4.8m cases and more than 157,000 deaths

And, challenged on his assertion that US schools should reopen fully after the summer break because children are “virtually immune” to coronavirus, Trump said at the briefing that he was “talking about them not getting very sick.”

In fact, children can catch, pass on and die from Covid-19.

The good news is that the projection has gone down to only 175 000 deaths by October.
The bad news is that the projection for November has gone to 224 500.
Now 230 800.
