Removing the mask mandate sends a message: it's normal now. People no longer practice social distancing.
Especially when you have been hammering and hammering about the Silver Bullet. Belgium has been dealing with a large influx of immigrants especially around Brussel South. For these groups family is everything.

I still believe the problem is Catholics. All the worst hit countries have a lot of Catholics. Even in Germany, the worst hit parts are the Catholic South and West. Don't mention the UK. Anglicans are basically Catholics that can't cook.
Looking at the 20 worst hit countries so far. Nearly all of them are mostly Catholic.

1 San Marino
2 Peru
3 Belgium
4 Andorra
5 Spain
6 Brazil
7 Bolivia
8 Chile
9 Ecuador
10 USA
11 Mexico
12 UK
13 Argentina
14 Italy
15 Panama
16 Colombia
17 Sweden
18 France
19 Sint Maarten
20 North Macedonia

The UK can be included as explained earlier (Anglicans are basically Catholics that don't eat Pasta).
So can the US (US Supreme Court fully in Catholic hands now)

It's because Protestants don't have multiple generations living under the same roof. Good thing, too, imagine generations of those dour fucking Scots Presbyterians in the same house. Or fucking Methodists, Jesus. Mrs. Lak's ex was a Methodist, didn't even have a glass of sherry on Christmas. My Mom's family were mostly Congregationalist, talk about a miserable bunch of pinch-faced old biddies. Never a comfortable piece of furniture in the house.
Yeah well that's just, like, your opinion, man.

:hilarious:

Half of my family is Roman Catholic, and for all the crazy that entails, they are the more fun bunch eg we're still drinking the wine with grandma's face on it...

Catlicks are much easier to deal with. Protestants and Muzzies are miserable sods.

Well Ireland is a mess. The health service is non existent. If you make it to casualty it is then five hour wait in the corridor on stretcher. People are changing in numbers to private health which only exacerbates the situation.
I agree Nine about the catholics. The virus was given free reign in the beginning here thanks to Carnival. The big piss-up in the south. North Brabant is still a hotspot according to official figures. Village cafes are still open if you know the right door.

Some interesting modelling: https://nafshordi.com/welcome/covid/

In particular, inference of the large population of undetected COVID infections based on the course of the
epidemic has direct parallels to inference of dark matter and dark energy in cosmology, using their
subtle gravitational impacts that can be seen through cross-correlation of cosmological observables.
