I'm noticing a trend, at least in the US data. The daily rate of new cases is remaining high, well over 20,000, but the number of deaths per day (in the past, often well over 1,000) seems to be decreasing a bit. I was thinking that the virus has killed a significant proportion of the elderly people with dangerous co-morbidities, and/or people with a particular susceptibility to its effects already, so a somewhat smaller proportion of infected people are currently dying. Just a speculation, of course...

I think what's probably more likely is that we're seeing NY and nearby areas starting to get this thing under control while the virus is now making it's way through the rest of the country. So cases are going down in some places while they go up in others. I suspect we'll see big increases in number of deaths in coming weeks...

Our covidiots had a mass demonstration in the capital yesterday. The police estimates 20,000 participants so it was most likely not more than 30,000. I saw aerial photos of the demonstration. I was at the Love Parade in Berlin in 1999 where there were about 1.5 million people. The covidiot demo covered only a tiny percentage of the Love Parade area and the people weren't crowding as close as we were during the Love Parade, so the police estimate seems reasonable to me. Still, the covidiots claim they were 1.3 million people. :rolleyes:

You were correct in that the Dutch Government are really a bunch of incompetents:

Had the Netherlands done what its neighbor Belgium did, namely, include probable Covid-19 deaths, it would sit near the top of the deaths per million leader board.

And so it is somewhat incomprehensible that the Netherlands dithers, perhaps stubbornly, on its mask policy. The Dutch people, on the other hand, aren’t as sanguine about the situation. More than 50% think face masks should be made compulsory in all indoor public spaces to help curb a second wave of the coronavirus.

The last people I would listen to or even read is the right wing rag called Forbes. It is a load of crap and should be totally ignored. It ignores everything except its right wing agenda. Are they all of sudden experts on Covid? I am surprised you even quote them as nobody else does. All its claims are rubbish of course especially the one about deaths.
BTW It was Forbes that created the fake news on the euthanasia death panels that meant to exist here. They cant stand the Netherlands as it is too socialistic. It loves Belgium and Britain of course. Two lovely corrupt countries.
Do you have the evidence that masks work all of sudden or did you like Forbes carry out a survey under the Telgraf readers.

Have you not noticed how the right wing falsifies the statistics by minimising the numbers - even to the point of denying that the corona pandemic even exists - because it wants the economy to go full steam ahead, never mind how many proles die as a result of reducing or abolishing social isolation measures?
