It is interesting that the mob was virtually all male, and violent. Compare that to XR climate protests in Melbourne in the past, probably a bit over 50% female, and totally non-violent...

I don't care why the vaccine reluctant might change their minds about vaccination; it might be fear, when they see figures like that, it might be because they can't do stuff without a vaccine certificate, or even get a job.

Whatever works to increase the percentage in the population...

https://www.news-medical.net/amp/news/2 ... study.aspx

Scientists from the University of Ottawa, Canada, have recently estimated the prevalence of myocarditis/pericarditis in individuals recently immunized with mRNA-based coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccines. The analysis reveals a prevalence of 10 myopericarditis cases for every 10,000 vaccine doses. The study is currently available on the medRxiv* preprint server.

Indeed. Calling them stoopid to their faces isn't going to help though (even if that's what we think of them). I don't want anyone to lose their mum or dad, or aunt or uncle, or child even, or friends or colleagues or neighbours if there's a chance of preventing it, but I don't know how you get through to people who ignore or oppose the advice around masks, vaccines, and testing etc, particularly when it appears to have become a part of their identity.

The whole anti-vax, anti-mask thing has some of the same cognitive elements as some of the more egregious religious delusions, IMO...

At least 62 people were arrested, mainly for breaching health orders and assaulting police, during Tuesday's protest, which started against mandatory COVID-19 vaccinations and restrictions on the construction industry.

Three police officers and a journalist were also injured as as many as 2,000 protesters shut down parts of the city and the West Gate Bridge, letting off flares and chanting "f*** the jab".

Their actions drew condemnation from unions and Premier Daniel Andrews, who said "there is no excuse for the terrible behaviour we have seen in our city over the last two days".

"Acts of violence and disruption won't result in one less case of COVID - in fact it only helps the virus to spread," Mr Andrews said in a statement on Tuesday night, as the protest continued.

The cops stormed them about an hour ago at the Shrine of Remembrance. There were shots going off (the news thinks they were beanbag rounds). Not something you hear much (if at all) in Australia.

There's a lot of money to be made with alternative medicine and conspiracy theories.
