Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Turns out the Pfizer vaccine does not need quite as cold a temp to store as is in the protocol. In the hurry to get it out they played it safe.

Yeah, not likely they would change it for Australia, even if distribution were faster with less refrigeration.

I'm talking about risk assessment not symptoms/mechanismsThe problems caused by the Astrazeneca / J&J are not comparable to deep vein thrombosis. It's similar to Heparin-induced thrombocytopenia
People still fly despite a 1 in 6000 risk of DVT.
6 days ago — So, according to the basic maths, the risk of dying from one of these blood clots after taking the vaccine is very roughly about one in 800,000.
Overblown controversy, get the fookin shot.AstraZeneca vaccine at a rate of roughly one in every 250,000, whereas blood clots caused by the pill are estimated to affect one in every 1,000 women each year.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
The difference between flying and the vaccine is that there's not an equivalent but safe alternative to flying like there is amongst the multiple vaccines. In some cases you can catch a train but it's usually slower and in many cases unavailable.

Plenty of vaccines.
Welcome to the new colonialism: rich countries sitting on surplus vaccines
Welcome to the new colonialism: rich countries sitting on surplus vaccines
Yep capitalism in everything.Last month, 130 countries had yet to administer a single dose of vaccine. Meanwhile the US has enough for three times its population
Old colonial lines are being reinforced. As western nations edge closer to effectively vaccinating their populations, much of the rest of the planet languishes in fear of new Covid variants and the long-term impacts of the pandemic and its economic consequences. The US has acquired enough vaccines for three times its population. At the same time, according to Unicef, 130 countries had yet to administer a single dose of vaccine as of mid-February. Some countries aren’t poised to see widespread vaccine access until 2023. While there are questions of unequal distribution within western countries like the US and UK, the larger problem is how the greed of governments – and the corporations that bully them – has caused a new and dangerous form of global inequality.
The US is, for lack of a better term, hoarding vaccines. It began with Donald Trump and his refusal to participate in Covax, a global initiative that aims to ensure the distribution of 2bn vaccines to countries in need. Joe Biden joined Covax but has for the most part deprioritized the organization for the sake of ensuring that Americans are vaccinated first and foremost – even if that means scores of vaccines go unused. After some criticism, Biden agreed to distribute some superfluous vaccines to Mexico and Canada. This is less an act of generosity than an act of self-interest, intended to ensure that the US vaccination process isn’t undone by having unvaccinated nations at its borders. In true American fashion, these vaccines are essentially loans

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Yes, but those are not nearly as deadly as the thrombocytopenia. About 40% of the people who got that from the vaccine have died.

Get your blood clots here! Free with all Covid vaccines!
https://www.marketwatch.com/amp/story/b ... 2021-04-15
A study by Oxford University found the number of people who receive blood clots after getting vaccinated with a coronavirus vaccine are about the same for those who get Pfizer PFE and Moderna MRNA vaccines as they are for the AstraZeneca AZN vaccine that was produced with the university's help. According to the study, 4 in 1 million people experience cerebral venous thrombosis after getting the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, versus 5 in 1 million people for the AstraZeneca vaccine. The risk of getting CVT is much higher for those who get COVID-19 -- 39 in a million patients -- than it is for those for get vaccinated. AstraZeneca's vaccine use has been halted or limited in many countries on blood clot concerns.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
(CNN)Republican Rep. Jim Jordan and the nation's top infectious disease expert Dr. Anthony Fauci got into a heated exchange Thursday over the country's Covid-19 mitigation measures, which ended with Democratic Rep. Maxine Waters telling Jordan to "shut your mouth."
"We had 15 days of 'slow the spread' turn into one year of lost liberty," Jordan said. "What metrics, what measures, what has to happen before Americans get more freedoms back?"
"You're indicating liberty and freedom. I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to the hospital," Fauci countered.
The back-and-forth between Fauci and Jordan -- who have clashed before -- continued for a few minutes until the subcommittee chair, Democratic Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, announced that Jordan's time expired.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Can't find any evidence for blood clotting that the Marketwatch article claimed with Pfizer/Moderna.
https://www.businessinsider.com/covid-v ... son-2021-4Roughly 68 million Americans have been fully vaccinated with either the Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna shot since December, and nearly 185 million doses have been administered in total. In that time, US regulators haven't discovered any significant safety concerns among people who've gotten those vaccines. (The CDC tracks vaccine side effects through a tool called V-safe, and healthcare providers are required to report adverse reactions via an online system called VAERS.)
"There's a lot of close scrutiny of these vaccines," Peter Gulick, an associate professor of medicine at Michigan State University, told Insider.
He added that Pfizer's and Moderna's shots were "months ahead of J&J" in their production and rollout and regulators had yet to see any red flags. Even his patients with HIV, Gulick said, haven't reported severe reactions.

Re: The Coronavirus Thread
Jordan lost his shit at the end, but before that his questions were mostly reasonable. He shouldn't play the "liberty" card of course, but we do want to know what we should be looking for --specifically-- before returning to normal.
His biggest problem is that he represents people who were never willing to do anything to combat this e.g. anti-mask protests started the instant they were recommended.

Yes, liberty isn't important.
Why even allow a government official to reference it? THAT could be harmful to the public good (as described by corporate media)
