Capitalisms are a state of mind, a way of looking at the world expressed through human-made political, economic and social structures designed by people who put a price on their own heads by believing that having more money than the next guy, and maximising that difference by any means fair or foul, somehow makes them a better kinds of person. It's akin to a kind of sport really, but an extreme sport which magnifies risk along with emotional and rational dysfunction played out in rigged games that ultimately only ever produce losers.

If we need a revolution it is one of consciousness and conscience - not one of blood and soil. Without the former the latter is inevitable; without the former transforming our priorities and restructuring our economies responsibly will be impossible.

The end of Capitalisms does not inevitably lead to totalitarianism, as if there's only is or has only ever been two alternatives to choose from - that's another story Capitalism wants us to read. In fact, totalitarianism is Capitalism's end game, and deep down we all know it, don't we?
Well put, except capitalism is not so much about being a qualitatively better person than a more powerful one. Wealth is foremost about power and influence.

Brian, controls and regulations via an intelligent state system are indeed the key to taming free enterprise, and with few exceptions, most countries do not do that nearly as well as they should. I am by no means blind to the ills of capitalism. One of the critical issues is the degree to which wealthy people and corporations can use money and power to push the political system to benefit them. For me, there should be no donations to political parties for electioneering, simply a modest, government funded program whereby they can put their policies to the people, unadorned by slick, deceptive advertising.

I'm equivocally all for that. When I say that Capitalism has to end I don't presume that Capitalism is a synonym for 'economy'. We can regulate social obligations into economies - we've done it before, most notably after WWII for example, where that post-war period until the end of the 70s and the birth of neo-liberalism is now seen as a kind of golden age. The climate and environmental crisis we're all starting to take notice of now also offers a chance to bake environmental obligations into the system too, a system which will inevitably have to be restructured anyway, like all economic structures have been reset before. Ending Capitalism as it is today is not a threat to our way of life: ending Capitalism as it is today is the only way to secure our way of life and build a better, fairer, more equal, more socially, politically, economically, and environmentally responsible society for our children and beyond.

So are you still reluctant to sign up for the People's Revolutionary Consciousness Party comrade Jim? The subs are very reasonable. :D

Fucking silos for people.

I suppose they're needed in countries infested by 408 people per km².

I'll just stay where I am.

You'd have plenty of space if you got rid of the squatters in Huis Ten Bosch.
