Those ten hour shifts are still preferred to 12 hour shifts. To man operations in 24/7 crews of workers work 12 h and it's work 4 days days, 4 days off, 4 days nights. Most places that's the rule. They do not allow you to do strictly days or strictly nights.

Amazon: When you cant use a toilet use a bottle.

Leaked memo shows Amazon knows delivery drivers resort to urinating in bottles
Documents provided to the Intercept published after the company denied reports delivery workers lack access to bathrooms

Amazon caused an uproar on Thursday when it denied reports that its delivery workers have been forced to urinate in bottles due to lack of access to bathrooms, but a leaked internal memo shows the company has been aware of the problem for at least several months.

Documents provided by employees at Amazon to the Intercept showed that an email sent in May 2020 admonished workers for urinating in bottles and defecating in bags while on the job.

“This evening, an associate discovered human feces in an Amazon bag that was returned to station by a driver,” the email reads. “This is the 3rd occasion in the last 2 months when bags have been returned to station with poop inside. We understand that DA’s [driver associates] may have emergencies while on-road, and especially during Covid, DAs have struggled to find bathrooms while delivering. Regardless, DAs cannot, MUST NOT, return bags to station with poop inside.”

The email went on to say: “We’ve noticed an uptick recently of all kinds of unsanitary garbage being left inside bags: used masks, gloves, bottles of urine.”
They will eat and drink it next.

It is actually quite easy. A woman has at least one X chromosome.

delivery workers? that's the people that deliver the packages to whoever ordered them, or does that mean something else?
Because, in the former case, of course they don't have proper access to restrooms, now that all bars etc are closed, and their facilities are unavailable.

If that means their warehouse workers, that's an absolute shame.

I actually find bottles of yellow liquid on the road side all the time. Truck drivers etc use them. Gatoraide bottles with wide lid are popular.

But you have to know that in the prairie here you could drive 10 miles with no "tree" on the road side on any rural road. It's farm, with a few low bushes in the ditch.

Amazon has apologised for denying that the internet shopping giant's drivers are sometimes forced to urinate in bottles during their delivery rounds.

"We know that drivers can and do have trouble finding restrooms because of traffic or sometimes rural routes, and this has been especially the case during COVID when many public restrooms have been closed," the company said in a statement.

The admission came a week after the US congressman Mark Pocan criticised Amazon's working conditions, saying in a tweet: "Paying workers $15/hr doesn't make you a 'progressive workplace' when you union-bust & make workers urinate in water bottles."

Amazon initially issued a denial, saying in a tweet: "You don't really believe the peeing in bottles thing, do you? If that were true, nobody would work for us."

But it subsequently walked back those comments.

"This was an own goal, we're unhappy about it, and we owe an apology to Representative Pocan," Amazon said in the statement, adding that its previous response only referred to staff at its warehouses or fulfilment centres.

The company said the issue was industry-wide and it would look for solutions.

Amazon's apology comes at a time when workers at an Alabama warehouse are waiting for a vote count that could result in the online retailer's first unionised facility in the US and mark a watershed moment for organised labour.

Amazon has long discouraged attempts among its more than 800,000 US employees to organise.

Allegations by many workers of a gruelling or unsafe workplace have turned unionising the company into a key goal for the US labour movement.

It was as much the fact that they were overloading drivers and making the completion of their delivery lists a condition of getting paid, and then sacking them for pissing on the move, as much as denying that it was going on.
