You tell this to Trump, and he goes "I can do that! Let's do that!"

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh urged Senate Republicans to skip the confirmation hearing process for President Trump's soon-to-be announced Supreme Court nominee and head straight to a floor vote.

RS
Trump recounted his push to have the National Guard sent in, insisting, “You wouldn’t have Minneapolis,” if he hadn’t. He then recounted, with a sadist’s delight, how an NBC correspondent of color, Ali Veshi, got injured with a non-lethal round and was shunted aside as a phalanx of law enforcement marched through the city. “Wasn’t it a beautiful sight?” Trump asked. “It’s called law and order!”

“You have good genes, you know that right?” Trump said to the nearly all-white crowd. “A lot of it is about the genes, isn’t it? Don’t you believe? The racehorse theory,” Trump said. “You think we’re so different? You have good genes in Minnesota.”

Was Trump Nixon's last dirty trick?
Dear Donald, Dear Mr. President: A Trump-Nixon ’80s tale

They were two men in Manhattan who craved the same thing: validation. One was a brash, young real estate developer looking to put his stamp on New York, the other a disgraced elder statesman bent on repairing his reputation.

That’s how a thirty-something Donald Trump and a seventy-ish Richard Nixon struck up a decade-long, fulsome correspondence in the 1980s that meandered from football and real estate to Vietnam and media strategy.

The letters between once and future presidents, revealed for the first time in an exhibit that opens Thursday at the Richard Nixon Presidential Library & Museum, show the two men engaged in something of an exercise in mutual affirmation. The museum shared the letters exclusively with The Associated Press ahead of the exhibit’s opening.

“I think that you are one of this country’s great men, and it was an honor to spend an evening with you,” Trump writes to Nixon in June 1982, less than eight years after Nixon resigned the presidency during the Watergate scandal. The two had been spotted together at the “21” nightclub and Trump was writing Nixon to thank him for forwarding a photo.

The next fall, it is Nixon chiming in.

“Let me be so presumptuous as to offer a little free advice (which is worth, incidentally, exactly what it costs!”) Nixon writes to Trump. Nixon, who played football in college and never lost his love for the game, then unspools detailed thoughts on how Trump should handle the New Jersey Generals football team that he had recently purchased and would fold by 1986. (Nixon included plenty of shoutouts for the underappreciated linemen, his old position.)

Trump, for his part, is unabashed about one of his aims for the relationship: “One of my great ambitions is to have the Nixons as residents in Trump Tower,” he writes that October.

But after the Nixons toured Trump’s flagship development on Fifth Avenue, the ex-president wrote that his wife “was impressed as I was but feels at this time she should not undertake the ordeal of a move.” She had suffered a mild stroke that August.

So it went, the patter of “Dear Donald” and “Dear Mr. President.”
So Tricky Dick and Kim Jung Un - Trump sure has had some interesting pen pals.

Anti-Trump bill!

https://apnews.com/82489275685c971ccef66d9864ec916a
Schiff called the Senate under Majority Leader Mitch McConnell “a willing accomplice to many of the president’s actions,″ but said the situation may change if Democrat Joe Biden is elected president. Republicans who now oppose constraints on presidential power may support Democratic efforts next year, Schiff said.

“The degradation of our democracy over the past 3 1/2 years is not the work of the president alone,″ Schiff said. ”Donald Trump could not have accomplished what he has in terms of undermining our democracy without the willing help of GOP partners in the Senate.″

In addition to strengthening reporting requirements for campaigns, the bill would clarify and enhance criminal penalties for campaigns that accept foreign information sought or obtained for political advantage.

The election provisions are a response to the Trump campaign’s interactions with Russians during the 2016 campaign, including conversations between the president’s son Donald Trump Jr. and intermediaries about information that could incriminate Democrat Hillary Clinton. A report by special counsel Robert Mueller found multiple contacts between the Trump campaign and Russia, but determined there was insufficient evidence to prove a criminal conspiracy between the two.

In a related action, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand, D-N.Y., and Rep. Katie Porter, D-Calif., announced legislation to strengthen disclosure requirements for members of Congress, their families and staff who receive a benefit from the federal government.

At least a dozen lawmakers, including Pelosi and McConnell, have family ties to organizations that received federal money through the $659 billion Paycheck Protection Program, launched in April to help keep Americans employed during the coronavirus pandemic. The new measure would require officials to report any time they or a close family member such as a spouse or child apply for or receive a benefit from the federal government, including loans, contracts or grants.

The move didn't have the intended effect, however, driving the president "s---house crazy," an ex-Trump administration official told the news outlet.

Trump gonna pull some stunt on "wink wink" liberals.

The intent seems clear here: Trump wants to hint at the idea that he has a few campaign operatives doing covert activities. He wants the crowd to know that there's something going on that's secret (and maybe even shady!) but doesn't want to actually explain what "it" is.

Doing so makes the crowd feel as though they are in on something -- a sort of secret that the liberals and the media can't figure out. And that Trump is operating on multiple levels -- the level you can see, yes, but also any number of other levels that you can't even figure out. That Trump may be bending or breaking rules isn't a drawback to the crowd. It's actually part of the fun.
