Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
So what happens when Trump loses? For years we've been saying that the country is changing. Some of us have even thought the Republican turn to the hard right is their recognition of the end. None of us saw Trump winning for this reason. How will they react if that is confirmed with a massive Trump loss?

Trump will win again. Then AOC's Green New Deal will seem like a great idea. Then the Republicans will win again and then, finally, all the old Republicans will be dead and the nation will simply have to choose between plutocracy and death or socially-environmentally responsible democracy.

When Trump is gone, that is the end of the GOP as we know it. It will regroup a bit and hold on to a third of the states.

It probably won't come to that though. I still think it's likely that Trump will be reelected.

Of course Trump will win. It is already paid for. After Trump another Trump? Why not? The 1% want domination and another idiot would suit them down to the ground. Maybe Ivanka? Why not? American politics is totally fucked anyway and bugger what the people want but anyway the hard core Trump supporters would support any one he told them to.

I guess it's better than thinking he won't, and reliving that nightmare eh?
I think he'll lose again, and this time the ec vote too.

The people he appealed to still have the same problems and concerns, and he's done a great job of making sure they know who's fault that is - and it isn't his of course. And his demographic will turn out for him, while the Republican voters who don't like him will probably just stay home rather than voting Democrat. I can't see the Black community turning out for Biden either. That man's blander than Mormon tapioca.

People will be voting against Trump.
Is there some reason to think he will win again where no Republican had before in ages? Clinton didn't get the vote out in those places, and Trump picked them up. But Obama ran away in those same places.
We can't get the Obama effect, but I'm betting hatred of Trump will bring out enough to beat Clinton's performance significantly.

Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
Perhaps the Dems can run on jobs and public spending in those areas where Trump gained last time, but after a few cycles of swing-voting people have noticed that all those guys flying in from Washington every four years always say the same things while nothing ever changes. Trump's slogans about China and immigrants, about making America great again for those who've had 20 years of the shitty end of the stick, and about elites, resonates with those people aside from the jobs and public spending mantras. Bernie and AOC also appeal to people with those kinds of concerns, but the Dems are probably going to pick Biden over Warren because he has a penis, and that leaves the Dems with one of those guys who flies in every four years with the same old yadda-yadda-yadda. The anti-Trump vote is bound to benefit the Dems, but is it enough to swing the EC in the states they need to swing? Well, perhaps - but I fear the youth and minority appeal of the Dems is not enough to defeat the Republican stay-at-homes once you factor in things like gerrymandering, the fact that the numbers of old people are increasing and that old people turn out more than young people and minorities, and that first-term governments attract all the money because they are the one's in power now.
What I don't know is whether I'm supposed to be encouraged or depressed by the fact that Trump has forced the rest of the World to be as interested in American politics as their own domestic politics.

Re: All Things Trump: Is it over yet?
Not according to the popular vote. Trump won the EC with 100k voters in three states. He will easily do it again. The Senate is in the same mess thanks to the extreme biased to small states.
