The BBC has told its presenters and guests not to wear Black Lives Matter badges as the campaign was accused of “hijacking” George Floyd’s death for political reasons.

I can't access the article due to paywall, and don't know the telegraph, but am only using it to point out that this seems to be political, to some people. Leaping to 'DNC' is ridiculous, of course.

Sources at the BBC, however, revealed the corporation had always deemed Black Lives Matter a political campaign, and had therefore deemed that the wearing symbols of support would fall foul of impartiality guidelines.

Of course the protests are political, because systemic and institutional racism etc and the ways they impact on everyone's lives are political issues - they're just not necessarily political in the party-political sense, whether a particular party supports them or is merely jumping on a bandwagon (or not).
