Really? You have no idea. I was down in the borders a few years ago and nothing has changed in fact due to the present economical situation in the Borders it has got worse. Buccleuch Estates are viscous land owners.

And your evidence? As I’m more or less housebound today I’ve the time to do some idle googling. The Buccleuch estates are a large corporate business these days with numerous facets including property, farming, forestry and actually quite a lot more, not just in rural southern Scotland.
