Still does not reflect European politics which is often the reason for other Anglo-Saxon countries they have difficulty relating to it. No where outside Europe do you see Social-Democrats or Social-Conservatives. Two beasts totally incomprehensible to the Anglo-Saxon mind-set but very much alive in almost all European countries except of course the UK. They have nothing to do with "liberal".

Load of bollocks. Greens are social democrats, and they are everywhere. And New Zealand and probably Canada are fairly social democratic. Hell, the Australian Labor Party at the last election was pretty social democratic.

And in the US Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and AOC are social democrats.

Some people would not know a Social-Democrat if it came up and bit their ass especially an unemployed ass.

And some people use the utterly bogus ‘mindset’ notion to close down discussion. What bullshit to say the ‘Anglo Saxon’ Mindset finds some political ideas incomprehensible. Where do you get off?

When Scott Dutchy's mindset goes into rant mode I just shrug my shoulders and move on. The best thing to do the moment you are tempted to argue with or react to him is this:

I know it seems difficult at first, but let me assure you, it becomes easy with a bit of practice. Counting to ten also helps.

And some people who've never once constructed a rational argument and are terminally insular, wouldn't know a non-Dutch social democrat if it came up and bit their gender confused arse.

I don't know about Warren there. She seems rather rampantly capitalist with just enough of a hint of a nod to socially-minded classical liberalism to keep the masses quiet and the votes rolling in. She was certainly baying for blood in support of the IMF's outrage over Venezuela. In fact, in a US context she's probably as far towards the off-centre right as Americans are prepared to look left as an electorate. Bernie is definitely off-centre left, but AOC... well... she's just a commie lickspittle running dog with designer jackboots!

I think one of the ideological problems of centrism is when it slips into making noises about there always being a reasonable compromise located between extreme positions.

Once again it is obvious that many dont have a clue about Northern European Social Democracies. Quoting a load of American politicians who do not by any stretch of the imagination fit the picture. Bernie a socialist? He would not make it in the VVD here and that is as right as we get. Comprehension of European societies is very lacking in this forum but that is understandable seeing where most members come from.

There is no European equivalent of Australia.

NB I use European as mainland Europe. The UK has never truly been European.

My argument isn't that media outlets of any stripe are paragons of perfect unbiased reporting. It's simply that, within current Oz media outlets, the examples you provided (The Age etc.) are better than the baying conservative alternatives...

You can't even keep your bullshit story straight. You said "social democrats", not socialists.
